02/05/2012 Barclay’s Premier League Round-up

Chelsea 0-2 Newcastle United

Papiss Cisse scored two outstanding goals to earn Newcastle a crucial win at Chelsea.

Cisse opened the scoring with an instinctive finish from the edge of the area and there were further chances in the opening half with Florent Malouda heading just wide for Chelsea and Newcastle’s Demba Ba firing a shot against the bar.

Newcastle looked set to face a nervous 10 minutes of injury-time after Cheick Tiote had to be taken off after falling badly, but Cisse made sure of the win when he hit a stunning shot with the outside of the right foot that flew past Petr Cech.

Bolton Wanderers 1-4 Tottenham Hotspur

Three goals in nine minutes saw Tottenham seal a win at Bolton that keeps them in fourth place in the Barclays Premier League.

Tottenham went in front when Rafael van der Vaart played a corner back to Modric and his dipping effort from 30 yards out found the top corner.

Dedryck Boyata shot over for Bolton but the home side equalised through Nigel Reo-Coker only for Van der Vaart to restore Tottenham’s lead and two quick goals from Emmanuel Adebayor sealed the victory.

There was good news for Bolton as they welcomed back Fabrice Muamba to the Reebok Stadium for the first time since he collapsed at Spurs and suffered a cardiac arrest in February.
