Tottenham Hotspur 2-0 Blackburn Rovers
Tottenham moved back into fourth place in the table with a comfortable win over struggling Blackburn in the Barclays Premier League.
Rafael van der Vaart opened the scoring from close range midway through the first half after Gareth Bale’s effort had been cleared off the line, while William Gallas headed against the bar in the opening period.
Kyle Walker, who had missed from close range in the first minute of the match, ensured Tottenham of the three points with a superbly struck free-kick that flew past Paul Robinson.
Blackburn struggled to carve out any goalscoring opportunities and they remain three points off safety with only two matches remaining.
Chelsea 6-1 Queens Park Rangers
A Fernando Torres hat-trick helped Chelsea make it a miserable afternoon for west London rivals Queens Park Rangers.
Torres followed up his crucial goal away to Barcelona in the Champions League in midweek with three clinical finishes at Stamford Bridge as Chelsea closed the gap on fourth-place Newcastle to a point.
Daniel Sturridge had put Chelsea in front after just 45 seconds and John Terry headed in a second before Torres took centre stage, while Florent Malouda added a sixth goal for the hosts.
QPR, who got a late consolation through Djibril Cisse, remain above the relegation places on goal difference, with two matches remaining in their season.
